Microfinance Field Interview Transcription

Transcribe loan officer field visits and client interviews in local languages, so credit assessments and field reports get done faster.

Your loan officer just got back from a field visit to a market trader in Ibadan, an interview conducted half in Yoruba and half in English, with the trader's income story, existing debts, and repayment plan all captured on a phone recorder. Typing that up for the credit file usually eats an hour per client. Autrans transcribes the interview in the language it was actually conducted, Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Pidgin, or English, and gives you a clean, searchable record you can attach to the loan file, plus an AI summary that pulls out the key facts a credit officer needs at a glance. Speaker labels separate the officer's questions from the client's answers. Built for microfinance banks, cooperative lenders, and field credit teams covering clients who are more comfortable speaking their own language than filling a form.

Benefits

  • Transcribes Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, and Pidgin interviews accurately, not just English
  • Speaker labels separate loan officer questions from client answers
  • AI summary pulls out income, debt, and repayment details for the credit file
  • Cuts field-report typing time from an hour per client to a few minutes of review
  • WhatsApp voice-note import for officers who record and send updates from the field
  • Export to DOCX or PDF to attach directly to the client's loan file

Frequently asked questions

Can it transcribe an interview conducted mostly in Yoruba or Hausa?

Yes, Autrans supports Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Nigerian Pidgin, and Nigerian English, including interviews that switch between languages mid-conversation, which is common in field visits. It does not currently support other Nigerian or African languages beyond these plus Arabic, French, and Spanish.

Can a field officer send the recording straight from their phone without a computer?

Yes, you can import a WhatsApp voice note directly, so an officer in the field can send the recording immediately after the interview without needing to get to a laptop first.

Is client financial information kept confidential?

Yes, recordings and transcripts are private to your account and audio is never used to train AI models. Use a view-only share link if a credit committee member needs to review a specific transcript.

How accurate is it for interviews with background noise, like a busy market?

Autrans handles typical field recording conditions reasonably well, but heavy background noise, like a crowded market, can reduce accuracy on parts of the audio. Recording as close to the client as possible gives the most reliable transcript.
